What is NAWIC?
The National Association of Women in
Construction (NAWIC) originally began as Women in Construction of Fort Worth, Texas. Sixteen women working in the construction industry founded it in 1953. Knowing that women represented only a small fraction of the construction industry, the founders organized NAWIC to create a support network. Women in Construction of Fort Worth was so successful that it gained its national charter in 1955 and became the National Association of Women in Construction. Today, NAWIC provides its members with opportunities for professional development, education, networking, leadership training, public service and more.

June Meeting: Zoom Meeting: Personal Branding Today
Tuesday, June 9th, 5:30PM
Female professionals make up 9.9% of the construction industry per NAWIC statistics shared in 2019. Being a woman in an industry primarily dominated by men already comes with its own set of challenges. Add to that the difficulties of working during a pandemic, like communicating remotely with others, canceled events, and taking the onus of roles that typically fall to women like educating kids and maintaining the household. These additional challenges make it difficult to remain visible and reflect a strong professional presence. How do we keep or develop a strong personal brand, especially in today’s environment?
Now, more than ever, it is critical to establish and cultivate your personal brand. A personal brand is not one-size-fits-all, but there are several aspects to consider when defining your brand. We will discuss the foundation of building your personal brand, ensuring your brand resiliency and staying relevant, how to stay connected with your employees and employers, how to build meaningful connections, as well as how to contribute and promote your talents in today’s environment.
Whether internally, on the job site, or through client relationships, when you have established a brand for yourself, it becomes easier for others to understand your true talents and value your expertise.
Join us Tuesday, June 9, at 5:30 p.m. for an interactive Zoom session with presenter, Amanda Roehl of Pixels and Ink Studio.
