COMMUNICATE, MOTIVATE, & EDUCATE! Fleet P. Fangman, CIT
August, 2010
Our August 10, 2010 membership meeting was held at Bobcat. This was a very educational, hands-on opportunity for us to learn about the equipment available through Bobcat Enterprises. We learned how to properly operate the equipment, and had the hands-on opportunity to drive the equipment under the careful supervision of Bobcat Enterprise personnel. They set up an obstacle course with two loaders with skids of water and allowed us to test our skills at maneuvering through cones without splashing water. In addition, we had the opportunity to drive a straight boom, scissor lift, and a utility vehicle. We celebrated Member Appreciation Night providing dinner at a reduced cost; raffled off NAWIC logo items; had a very productive business meeting; and enjoyed great networking, education, and safety training.
On August 12, 2010 Rebecca Thompson, CCA, CDS, CIT; Candy Riley, CIT; and I had the opportunity to promote NAWIC with an informational booth at the Southwest Ohio Utility Safety Council 5th Annual Dinner meeting at Germania Park. We made some very good contacts and hope to gain some new members from this opportunity.
On Saturday, August 14, 2010 the Injury Free Coalition for Kids Playground Build took place at The CWFF Daycare, 430 Forest Avenue/Avondale. Our participation in this event is a way for us to give back to the community. This was the second playground build this summer. Thanks to all our members who volunteered for this event!
The Region 4 Leadership Saturday was held on Saturday, August 14, 2010 in Lima, Ohio. These ladies gave up their Saturday to enhance their leadership skills for the benefit of our chapter.
